Generals Agree to Terms With NHL Vet Kevin Miller

Thursday, Mar. 3rd, 2005

FLINT, MI - The Generals are taking additional steps to solidify their roster as the United Hockey League Club along with Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols, have agreed to terms with National Hockey League right wing, Kevin Miller, who could join the club as early as Friday night when the Generals host Missouri.

Miller, a 39-year-old native of Lansing, Michigan will join the Generals after spending all or parts of 14 of the last 17 seasons in the National Hockey League. Miller was selected by the New York Rangers (N.H.L.) in round #10, #202 pick overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.

Miller should be no stranger to mid-Michigan hockey fans as he enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at Michigan State University (1984-1988) before joining the Rangers organization. Miller appeared in 48 games with the International Hockey League’s Flint Spirits (1989-1990), the #1 affiliate of the Rangers that season.

Miller has appeared in 620 National Hockey League games with the Rangers (1988-1991), Detroit Red Wings (1990-1992 & 2004), Washington Capitals (1992-1993), St. Louis Blues (1992-1995), San Jose Sharks (1995-1996), Pittsburgh Penguins (1995-1996), Chicago Blackhawks (1996-1998), New York Islanders (1998-1999), and Ottawa Senators (1999-2000). He also played three seasons in Europe from 2000-2003.

Kevin Miller will help this hockey club, no doubt about it,” said Player & Assistant Coach, Bobby Reynolds. “Miller brings a solid two-way game to our hockey club. He brings leadership, experience and character to the locker room. When he joins us, it will be another important piece to our puzzle in preparation for the rest of the season. It will also be great news for the United Hockey League. We will be glad to have Kevin here in Flint.”

The Generals host the Missouri River Otters on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Perani’s Arena at 7:35 p.m.
