Wranglers Add Tibbetts

Las Vegas NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced the signing of right wing Billy Tibbetts.

Billy Tibbetts joins the Las Vegas Wranglers as a free agent after playing the first seven games of the season with the San Diego Gulls. Tibbetts accumulated nine points with four goals and five assists in addition to 56 penalty minutes. Tibbetts brings 82 games of NHL experience to the Wranglers locker room as well as numerous stints in the AHL including two call ups last season with Houston and Springfield. Billy Tibbetts also brings along an extensive ECHL resume that includes 107 games played with 59 goals and 72 assists for a total of 131 points and 640 penalty minutes. For his career, the Boston, MA native has played in 300 games scoring 95 goals and adding 141 assists for 236 points. The rugged winger has amassed 1,506 penalty minutes, including a career-high 300 with the Johnstown Chiefs during the 1995-96 season.

The 210-pound winger made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 6, 2000. Tibbetts tallied his first NHL goal on February 16, 2001 against New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Tibbetts is expected to make his Wranglers debut in Bakersfield on Thursday night at 7:00 pm. Tibbetts and the Wranglers will be back at the Orleans Arena this Friday and Saturday to play the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads at 7:05 pm.
