Monday, Jun. 16th, 2014

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the acquisition of defensemen Jacob Johnston and Erik Burgdoerfer. These acquisitions complete two trades that occurred during the 2013-14 season where the Warriors were to receive future considerations.

Johnston, 26, completed his rookie season with the Evansville IceMen last year and finishes the deal that sent Matt Lowry to Evansville at the beginning of last season. Johnston scored five goals and added 15 assists while competing in 51 games with Evansville. He is a native to Sudbury, Ontario and is a product of Dalhousie University.

Burgdoerfer, 25, comes from the Bakersfield Condors where he has played the past four seasons. He completes the trade for Ryan Garlock which was also completed at the beginning of last season. Burgdoerfer has scored 22 goals, tallied 53 assists and amassed a +12 rating during the 269 games played with the Condors. The defenseman hails from East Setauket, New York and played four collegiate years at R.P.I.
