Saturday, Apr. 5th, 2014

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed left wing Nicolas Kerdiles to a three-year entry-level contract.

Kerdiles, 20 (1/11/94), ranked fifth in the nation in points-per-game (1.36) and tied for 11th in assists-per-game (0.82) this season. Kerdiles collected 15-23=38 points with 33 penalty minutes (PIM) in 28 games with Wisconsin (Big Ten), ranking third among conference skaters in scoring and goals, and second in assists. A 2013-14 Second-Team All-Star, Kerdiles helped lead Wisconsin to the Big Ten title with three points in the championship game, including an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime vs. Ohio State on Mar. 22.

A native of Irvine, CA, Kerdiles became the first Anaheim Ducks draft selection who was raised in Orange County (raised in Irvine, born in Lewisville, TX) when he was chosen in the second round (36th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Kerdiles earned 26-45=71 points with 70 PIM in 60 career games with Wisconsin. In his 2012-13 freshman season, Kerdiles led the Badgers to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Final Five Championship and received tournament MVP honors after recording 4-6=10 points in five tournament games. Kerdiles, a member of U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 teams prior to Wisconsin, won gold with Team USA at both the 2011 and 2012 IIHF U-18 World Championships.
