EIHL Suspends Chris Frank and Matthew Myers for Three Games Each

Tuesday, Feb. 18th, 2014

Braehead Clan defenceman Chris Frank has been handed a three-match ban for excessive roughness following a supplementary discipline request by Coventry Blaze.

Frank was initially assessed a 2+2 penalty for roughing in the third period (50:30) of his side's game with Coventry on Sunday 16th February 2014.

Head of discipline Moray Hanson has reviewed the incident and consulted with the matchnight officials and decided to upgrade it to a match penalty for excessive roughness and has imposed a three-match ban.

Hanson said: "Frank has been awarded this penalty due to the very dangerous action when he punched an opponent whilst having a broken stick in his hand.

"This could have resulted in a very serious injury and this type of action will not be tolerated in the league.

"He had ample time and several opportunities to drop the stick."

Frank will miss the following games:

19 February 2014 Hull Stingrays vs Braehead Clan
22 February 2014 Braehead Clan vs Sheffield Steelers
1 March 2014 Braehead Clan vs Edinburgh Capitals

Cardiff Devils forward Matthew Myers has been handed a three-match ban for checking-from-behind following a supplementary discipline request by Sheffield Steelers.

The incident took place in the second period of the game between Cardiff and Sheffield on Sunday 16th February 2014.

Head of discipline Moray Hanson has now reviewed the incident and consulted with matchnight officials, and has decided to impose the automatic three-match ban for this offence, as per EIHL rules.

Hanson said: "This penalty has been awarded due to the distance Myers travelled, the player being in a vulnerable position and the resultant injury of the player."

Myers will miss the following games:

19 February 2014 Sheffield Steelers vs Cardiff Devils
23 February 2014 Cardiff Devils vs Fife Flyers
1 March 2014 Cardiff Devils vs Coventry Blaze
