Wednesday, Oct. 16th, 2013

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings today agreed to terms with right wing Anthony Mantha on a three-year entry-level contract.

Mantha, 19, was selected by Detroit this past June in the first round (20th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-5, 204-pound forward has gotten off to a fast start this season with the Val-d'Or Foreurs, leading the QMJHL with 23 points (13-10-23) in only eight contests. Last season, he was the league’s only 50-goal scorer, tallying 89 points (50-39-89) in 67 games and ranking 10th overall in scoring. He also added 12 points (5-7-12) in nine postseason contests. A native of Longueuil, Quebec, Mantha has compiled 158 points (83-75-158) in 139 major junior games.
