Penguins Sign Jean-Sebastien Dea to Entry-Level Contract

Tuesday, Sep. 17th, 2013

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Jean-Sebastien Dea to a three-year entry-level contract, it was announced today by executive Vice President and general manager Ray Shero.

The contract will begin when Dea turns pro.

Dea, 19, attended training camp on an amateur tryout contract after leading a group of Penguins' prospects with three points (1G-2A) in three games at the rookie tournament in London, Ontario in early September.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound Dea has played the past two seasons with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Last year he finished 11th in the league with 85 points (45G-40A) in 68 regular-season games.

A native of Laval, Quebec, Dea led the QMJHL with 25 power-play goals during the 2012-13 regular season. During the 2013 postseason, Dea ranked third in the league with 12 goals - including six on the man-advantage - in 14 games.

Dea has totaled 117 points (62G-55A) in 118 QMJHL regular-season games and 24 points (13G-11A) in 18 postseason contests.
