Chill Sign Chad Costello

ST. CHARLES, Missouri – The St. Charles Chill announced Tuesday the Central Hockey League (CHL) team has signed former ECHL Most Valuable Player Chad Costello for the Chill’s upcoming inaugural season. The Chill is now up to six players signed for the 2013-14 season.

Costello, 27 (7/22/86), enters his sixth pro season and he returns to the CHL after playing the previous two seasons in the ECHL and American Hockey League (AHL). The native of Johnston, Iowa was named the ECHL’s MVP following the 2011-12 season despite missing over a third of the season due to a major knee injury. During his MVP season with the Colorado Eagles, he registered 76 points on 29 goals and 47 assists in just 47 games.

Last season, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward returned to the Eagles following his injury and was leading the ECHL in points (49) and assists (35) at the time of his call-up to the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He recorded 12 points on three goals and nine assists in 21 games with the Sound Tigers before returning to the Eagles.

Overall, Costello has averaged over a point per game in his pro career with 336 points (113-223=336) in 301 games. In 16 total playoff games, he has 26 points on eight goals and 18 assists.
