IceMen Sign Matt Schepke

EVANSVILLE, Ind– The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with left winger Matt Schepke for the 2013-14 season.

Schepke, 28, played in 15 games with the IceMen last season, totaling seven points on four goals and three assists. The winger signed with the IceMen in mid-December and had his best game with the team just two weeks later when he delivered a two-goal performance against the Cincinnati Cyclones Dec. 29 at the Ford Center.

The Warren, Mich. native is no stranger to the ECHL, as he has appeared in 204 games in the league with the IceMen, Wheeling Nailers (2011-12), Reading Royals (2011-12), Greenville Road Warriors (2010-11/13) and Charlotte Checkers (2008-9/10), now of the AHL. Schepke has tallied 118 points on 57 goals and 61 assists, and has a +4 rating in his ECHL career.

Schepke had a 16-game stint with the Braehead Clan of the EIHL early in the 2012-13 season. There, he recorded ten points on seven goals and three assists.

The 5’11”, 196 pound left-handed shot played at Michigan State University of the CCHA from 2006-09, where he appeared in 98 games, totaling 54 points on 28 goals and 26 assists.

Prior to his collegiate career, Schepke spent time the Omaha Lancers and the Texarkana Bandits of the USHL and Michigan Tech of the WCHA.

In addition, Schepke has appeared in six games in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Albany River Rats and Hartford Wolf Pack.
