IceMen Re-Sign Aaron Gens

EVANSVILLE, Ind– The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with defenseman Aaron Gens for the 2013-14 season.
Gens played in 28 games for the IceMen during the 2012-13 regular season, finishing with 12 points on two goals and 10 assists. Gens’ highlight of the 2012-13 season came against the Elmira Jackals Jan. 12, where he accomplished his first professional goal and dished out two assists, one of which came on the game-winner in overtime.
The 6’1”, 204-pound defenseman will play in his second season with Evansville in 2013-14.
The 26-year-old blue-liner played at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks from 2008-12. Gens appeared in 140 games, notching 72 points on 12 goals and 60 assists for the Nanooks.
After concluding his collegiate career, Gens launched a seven-game stint with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL near the end of the 2011-12 season. He registered two assists and a +4 rating in that span.
A native of Baudette, Minn., Gens spent four years in the North American Hockey League with the Santa Fe/Topeka Roadrunners. He played in 171 games, and recorded 91 points on 17 goals and 74 assists.
Gens was initially signed by Evansville prior to the 2012-13 campaign. He missed the last two months of the season due to an upper body injury, but is ready to go for training camp.
