Islanders Sign Peter Regin to One-Year Contract

The New York Islanders announced today that Peter Regin has agreed to terms on a one-year deal.

Regin, 27, recorded three assists in 27 games last season with the Ottawa Senators. A native of Herning, Denmark, Regin was limited to 92 games over the past three seasons due to injury. During his first full season with Ottawa in 2009-10, the center established career highs in games (75), points (29), goals (13), assists (16) and plus-minus (+10).

In 178 career National Hockey League games, Regin has 55 points (19 goals, 26 assists) with a plus-5 rating. He’s also appeared in six Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Senators in 2010, scoring four points (three goals, one assist).

Regin played for Timra of the Swedish Elite League for three seasons from 2005-06 to 2007-08. In his first season in North America and his only American Hockey League campaign, Regin scored 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 56 games with the Binghamton Senators in 2008-09.

On the international stage, Regin represented Denmark at six World Championships, four World Junior Championships and two Under-18 World Junior Championships.
