Monday, Mar. 26th, 2012

Frisco, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the NHL club has agreed to terms with forward Alex Chiasson on a three-year entry-level contract. He will join Dallas’ primary development affiliate, the Texas Stars, for the remainder of their AHL season. Chiasson was Dallas’ second round selection (38th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Chiasson, 21, led Boston University in scoring this past season as a junior with 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) in 37 games, and a +18 rating. The 6-3, 202-pound forward was named a 2012 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and was honored as Hockey East Player of the Week twice this season (March 12 and Feb. 20).

“We’re excited to have Alex join the Texas Stars for the remainder of their season,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He has had an impressive college career and we look forward to watching him continue to develop as a professional in our system.”

Chiasson played in 107 games in three seasons for the Terriers, scoring 36 goals and 61 assists for 97 points. A native of St. Augustin, Quebec, he served as an assistant captain for BU during the 2011-12 season.
