Anaheim Adds Ben Maxwell Off Waivers From Winnipeg

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has claimed center Ben Maxwell off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets.
Maxwell, 23 (3/30/88), has appeared in 36 career NHL games with Montreal (2008-10), Atlanta (2010-11) and Winnipeg (2011-12), scoring 1-1=2 points with 17 penalty minutes (PIM). Maxwell made his NHL debut with Montreal on Dec. 13, 2008 vs. Washington and scored his first career NHL goal (1-1=2) with Atlanta on Mar. 27, 2011 vs. Ottawa. He missed the first six games of the 2011-12 regular season with an upper body injury before making his Winnipeg debut on Oct. 22 vs. Carolina. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has appeared in four games for the Jets this year, going scoreless.
Selected by Montreal in the second round (49th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Maxwell made his professional debut with Hamilton of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2008-09. The 6-1, 195-pound center has appeared in 179 career AHL games with Hamilton (2008-11) and Chicago (2010-11), earning 49-94=143 points with a +15 rating and 112 PIM. He has also played in seven career Calder Cup Playoff games, scoring 3-1=4 points with four PIM.
