Coyotes Assign Kyle Chipchura to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Kyle Chipchura to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 6-foot-2, 203 pound Chipchura was signed as an unrestricted free agent on July 19. He appeared in the season opening game at San Jose, skating in 10:39 of ice time. Last season, the Westlock, Alberta native appeared in 40 games with the Anaheim Ducks, collecting two assists.
Chipchura was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (18th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
