Ducks Sign Bryan Rodney to One-Year Contract

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Bryan Rodney to a one-year contract.
Rodney, 27 (4/22/84), appeared in three games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes (PIM). He played a majority of the season with Charlotte of the American Hockey League (AHL), setting career highs in goals, assists and points (9-38=47) in 77 games. The 6-0, 204-pound defenseman ranked 10th among league blueliners in scoring and tied for seventh in assists. Rodney also ranked second on Charlotte in assists and first among defensemen in points.
A native of London, Ontario, Rodney has played three NHL seasons with Carolina, recording 1-12=13 points with 12 PIM in 33 career games. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 11, 2008 vs. Philadelphia and scored his first career NHL goal against Semyon Varlamov on Mar. 25, 2010 vs. Washington. Rodney has appeared in 239 career AHL games with Hartford (2005-06), Albany (2007-10), and Charlotte (2010-11), collecting 24-112=136 points with 130 PIM. A 2010 AHL All-Star, he has also scored 3-11=14 points with 22 PIM in 31 career Calder Cup Playoff games.
