Sabres Get Defenseman Robyn Regehr

The Calgary Flames traded veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr, forward Ales Kotalik and a second-round draft pick in 2012 to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday morning for defenseman Chris Butler and center ]Paul Byron.
The deal was announced just moments before the second round of the Entry Draft began at the Xcel Energy Center.
Regehr, who waived his no-trade clause, has played all 11 of his NHL seasons with the Flames. In 826 games, he has 29 goals, 163 points and 802 penalty minutes. The 31-year-old had 2 goals and 19 points in 79 games with the Flames this past season.
Kotalik, a former Sabre, split the season between Calgary and their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford. He was 4-2-6 in 26 games with the Flames. He spent his first six-plus season with the Sabres, posting career highs of 25 goals and 62 points in 2005-06.
Butler, who turns 25 in October, has played 155 games in three NHL seasons and had 2 goals and 9 points in 49 games this past season. Byron made his NHL debut with Buffalo this past season, scoring a goal and adding an assist in eight games after scoring 26 goals and putting up 53 points with the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Portland.
