Blues Sign David Shields To Entry-Level Contract

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday the club has signed defenseman David Shields.

Shields, 20, has spent the past four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Erie Otters where he has made 250 appearances, amassing 67 points including 15 goals and 52 assists.

This season, the 6’3, 218-pound defenseman has played in 61 games ranking second among Erie defensemen with a career high 27 points (six goals, 21 assists).

The Buffalo, New York native was drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 168th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
