Atlanta Trades Drew MacIntyre to Montreal for Brett Festerling

The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired defenseman Brett Festerling from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender Drew MacIntyre, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.
Festerling, 24, has totaled 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 48 games this season with the Syracuse Crunch and Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The 6-1, 210-pound defenseman has totaled 42 points (six goals, 36 assists) in 184 career AHL games with Portland, Iowa, San Antonio, Toronto, Syracuse and Hamilton. Festerling has also compiled eight assists in 83 NHL games with the Anaheim Ducks (2008-09 to 2010-11) and saw action in one contest this season against St. Louis on Oct. 11.
The Prince George, British Columbia, native spent six seasons (2001-02 to 2006-07) in the Western Hockey League with Tri-City and Vancouver and totaled 69 points (15 goals, 54 assists) in 314 games.
Festerling was undrafted prior to being signed by Anaheim on Sept. 14, 2005. He was traded from Anaheim to Montreal on Dec. 31, 2010.
MacIntyre, 27, posted a 12-5-1 record with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 20 games with the Chicago Wolves (AHL) this season. The 6-1, 190-pound goaltender was recalled by the Thrashers three time this season (Oct. 9, Jan. 28 and Feb. 26), but did not appear in a game.
The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, native competed in two NHL games with Vancouver during the 2007-08 season, posting a 0-1-0 record. He has earned a 123-71-11 record with 12 shutouts, a 2.42 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 216 career AHL games with Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Milwaukee and Chicago.
MacIntyre was signed by the Thrashers as a free agent on July 6, 2009.
