Columbus Trades Tom Sestito to Philadelphia

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired centers Greg Moore and Michael Chaput from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for left wing Tom Sestito, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Moore will be assigned to the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, while Chaput is currently playing with Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Moore, 26, has appeared in 10 career NHL games, including four with the Blue Jackets in 2009-10. He has registered 84-109-193 and 158 penalty minutes in 359 career AHL games, including 7-13-20 and 18 penalty minutes with the Adirondack Phantoms this season. He was originally acquired by the Blue Jackets from the New York Islanders in exchange for Dylan Reese on Mar. 1, 2010.

Calgary’s fifth pick, 143rd overall, in the 2003 Entry Draft, Moore appeared in six games with the New York Rangers in 2007-08, making his NHL debut on Nov. 21, 2007 at Tampa Bay. Prior to his professional career, the Lisbon, Maine native spent four seasons at the University of Maine, where he collected 66-41-107 and 117 penalty minutes in 154 games from 2002-06.

Chaput (pronounced sha-PUT) was Philadelphia’s first pick, 89th overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft. The Ile Bizard, Quebec native has registered 53-67-120 with 178 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +6 in 152 career QMJHL games. This season, the 18-year-old has tallied 22-33-55 with 84 penalty minutes and is +19 in 55 games with Lewiston.

Sestito was Columbus’ third pick, 85th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft. He appeared in 13 career NHL games, tallying 2-2-4 and 64 penalty minutes. He also registered 36-56-92 and 700 penalty minutes in 200 career AHL games with Springfield and Syracuse.
