Thrashers Add Radek Dvorak From Florida

The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired forward Radek Dvorak and a fifth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired from Carolina) from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forwards Niclas Bergfors and Patrick Rissmiller, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.

Dvorak has recorded 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 53 games with the Panthers this season. The 6-2, 200-pound right wing scored a season-high two goals on Oct. 14 at Calgary and earned a season-high two assists on Nov. 5 vs. Carolina. He posted assists in three-straight games from Jan. 23 to Jan. 26, tallying three assists during that span.

The Tabor, Czech Republic, native has tallied 555 points (215 goals, 340 assists) in 1,105 career NHL games over 15 seasons with Florida, the New York Rangers, Edmonton and St. Louis. He has also appeared in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games with Florida and Edmonton, earning seven points (two goals, five assists). Dvorak has represented the Czech Republic in international competition six times, including the IIHF World Championships (1999, 2001, 2004 and 2005), the World Cup of Hockey (2004) and the Winter Olympics (2002).

Dvorak, 33, was originally selected by Florida in the first round, 10th overall, of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

Bergfors, 23, has registered 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 52 games with the Thrashers this season. He has posted three five-game point streaks this season (Oct. 23 to Nov. 3, Nov. 6 to Nov. 14 and Jan. 2 to Jan. 14) and tallied a season-high two points on two occasions (Oct. 27 at NYR and Jan. 14 vs. PHI).

The 5-11, 200-pound right wing has earned 74 points (33 goals, 41 assists) in 142 career NHL games with New Jersey and Atlanta. Bergfors has recorded 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 63 career games with the Devils and 150 points (64 goals, 86 assists) in 257 American Hockey League games with Albany and Lowell. He has represented Sweden twice at the IIHF World Junior Championships (2006 and 2007), earning eight points (three goals, five assists) in 13 career tournament games.

The Sodertalje, Sweden, native was acquired by the Thrashers from New Jersey with Johnny Oduya, Patrice Cormier and a first-round choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (later traded to Chicago) for Ilya Kovalchuk and Anssi Salmela on Feb. 4, 2010.

Rissmiller, 32, has tallied 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 48 AHL games this season with Chicago and Lake Erie. He ranks fourth on the Monsters in points, third in assists, and is fifth in goals.

The 6-4, 225-pound left wing was recalled by the Thrashers on Feb. 21 and competed in one contest, recording two shots. Rissmiller has appeared in 183 career NHL games with San Jose and the New York Rangers, posting 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists).

The Belmont, Mass., native was acquired by the Thrashers from the Rangers with Donald Brashear for Todd White on Aug. 2, 2010.
