Blues Place Halak on IR; Recall Ben Bishop

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday the club has recalled goaltender Ben Bishop from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

In addition, the club placed goaltender Jaroslav Halak on injured reserve with an injured right hand.

Bishop, 24, has started 29 games for the Rivermen this season compiling a record of 15-12-1 including a 2.52 goals against average, .916 save percentage as well as two shutouts.

The, 6’7, 215-pound goaltender appeared in six games for the Blues during the 2008-09 campaign including his NHL debut on October 24, 2008 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Overall, his NHL career has yielded a recorded of 1-1-1 including a 2.94 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.

A native of St. Louis, Bishop was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round, 85th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
