Sharks Acquire Ben Eager

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired Ben Eager from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2011 draft.
Eager, 26, has played in 34 games with Atlanta this season, posting ten points (three goals, seven assists), a plus-four rating and 77 penalty minutes, ranking him 21st in the NHL.
He was a member of last season’s Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks squad, playing in 18 Stanley Cup Playoff games and collecting three points (one goal, two assists) and 20 penalty minutes.
In 289 NHL games with Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta, Eager has posted 62 points (30 goals, 32 assists) and 698 penalty minutes.
He was originally selected by Phoenix in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
