Capitals Recall Defenseman Brian Fahey From Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Brian Fahey from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Fahey has recorded two points (1 goal, 1 assist) and 10 penalty minutes in four games for the Bears this season. A 6’1”, 215-pound native of Des Plaines, Illinois, Fahey made his NHL debut in a 3-2 win against the Nashville Predators on Oct. 16.

Fahey, 29, is a veteran of 494 minor league games. He played last season with Lake Erie in the AHL, where he had 11 goals and 25 points in 71 games. His most successful campaign came in 2007-08 with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL where he recorded 14 goals, 37 points and 123 penalty minutes in 76 regular-season games before recording eight assists and 10 points in 24 playoff games en route to a Calder Cup championship.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Fahey was drafted in the fourth round, 119th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He wears No. 44 with the Capitals.
