Colby Armstrong Inks Three-Year Deal With Toronto

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the team has signed unrestricted free agent forward Colby Armstrong.
Armstrong, 27, recorded 15 goals and added 14 assists in 79 games with Atlanta in 2009-10. He was plus six and averaged 14:47 of ice time. He recorded a four-game goal streak from December 9 to 14 and reached the 100 career assist milestone on April 1 at Washington.
Armstrong represented Canada at the IIHF World Championships in 2007 (Gold) and 2009 (Silver). His Red Deer Rebels captured the Memorial Cup in 2002 and he scored 16 points in the 23 playoff games that season.
The native of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan was originally Pittsburgh’s first choice, 21st overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft. Armstrong was traded to the Thrashers by Pittsburgh with Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and Pittsburgh’s first round draft choice (Daulton Leveille) in the 2008 Entry Draft for Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis on February 26, 2008.
