Boll and Clark Out for the Year; Blue Jackets Recall Tomas Kana

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added forward Tomas Kana to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

Kana, 22, was acquired by Columbus along with defenseman Brendan Bell from St. Louis in exchange for forward Pascal Pelletier on December 8. The Blues’ third pick, 31st overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, he has tallied 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points with a +2 plus/minus rating and six power play goals in 49 games with Syracuse this season. Kana split the previous two seasons between the AHL with Peoria and ECHL with the Alaska Aces. The Opava, Czech Republic native played parts of four seasons with HC Vitkovice Steel and Usti n. L. in the Czech Elite League from 2004-08, registering 19-21-40 and 128 penalty minutes in 112 games.

The club also announced that forwards Jared Boll and Chris Clark will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2009-10 season due to injuries suffered last week. Boll, who tallied 4-3-7 and a team-high 149 penalty minutes in 68 games this season, suffered a hand injury at New Jersey on March 23. Clark suffered a knee injury in last night’s 4-2 win at Chicago and had collected 7-13-20 and 48 penalty minutes in 74 games this season, including 3-2-5 and 21 penalty minutes in 36 games after joining the Blue Jackets in a trade with Washington on December 28.
