Blue Jackets Call Up Derek MacKenzie and Maksim Mayorov

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forwards Derek MacKenzie and Maksim Mayorov from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Both players are expected to be in the line-up tonight against Anaheim.

MacKenzie, 28, has tallied 1-3-4 and is +3 in 17 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has appeared in 63 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers has collected 3-5-8 and 30 penalty minutes. The Sudbury, Ontario native has notched 17-30-47 and 30 penalty minutes in 47 games with the Crunch this season. He leads the club in points and is second in goals and assists, while his five shorthanded goals are tied for the league lead. He has recorded 88-119-207, 236 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +13 in 261 career AHL games with Syracuse and Chicago.

Mayorov, who turns 21 on March 26, made his NHL debut last season with the Blue Jackets at St. Louis on January 3 and was scoreless in three games with the club. He has registered 11-12-23 and 18 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Crunch this season. Columbus’ fifth pick, 94th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, he has registered 28-26-54 and 48 penalty minutes in 132 career AHL games.
