Phoenix Acquires Alexandre Picard

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired forward Chad Kolarik from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Alexandre Picard, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Kolarik has been assigned to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate.
Kolarik, 24, has collected 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points and 41 penalty minutes in 59 games with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage. He ranks tied for second on the club in goals and is fifth in points. He has registered 37-48-85 and 88 penalty minutes in 135 career AHL games.
Phoenix’s seventh pick, 199th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Kolarik spent four seasons at the University of Michigan, where he collected 78-96-174, 131 penalty minutes and a cumulative +59 plus/minus rating in 163 career games. He notched a career high 30-26-56, 24 penalty minutes and was +28 in 39 games during the 2007-08 season, en route to earning NCAA West Second All-American and CCHA First All-Star Team honors. The Abington, Pennsylvania native spent two seasons with the United States Development Program from 2002-04, registering 51-56-107 and 67 penalty minutes in 120 games.
