Buffalo Acquires Raffi Torres

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have acquired forward Raffi Torres from Columbus in exchange for Nathan Paetsch and a second-round selection (originally acquired from Vancouver).
Torres (10/8/1981, 6’0”, 216 lbs.) had 31 points (19+12) in 60 games for the Blue Jackets this season, including seven power play goals and three game winners.
A native of Toronto, Ont., Torres has 177 points (98+79) in 418 career games with Columbus, Edmonton and the New York Islanders. He posted career highs in both goals (27) and points (41) with Edmonton in 2005-06. Torres also added 11 points (4+7) and 16 PIM in 22 playoff games, helping the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006.
The 28-year-old Torres was originally a fifth-overall selection by the Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
