Canucks Acquire Yan Stastny In Exchange for Pierre-Cedric Labrie

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have acquired centre Yan Stastny in exchange for left wing Pierre-Cedric Labrie from the St. Louis Blues. Stastny will report to Manitoba.
Stastny, 27, has played in 91 career NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers. He has registered 16 points (6-10-16) and 58 penalty minutes. In 49 games this season with the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL, he has registered 27 points (10-17-27) and 51 penalty minutes. The 6’0”, 192-pound centreman played for Team USA in the 2005 IIHF World Championships.
Born in Quebec City, Quebec, Stastny was originally selected in the eighth round, 259th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
