Coyotes Activate Winnik; Place Upshall on IR

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have activated forward Daniel Winnik off of Injured Reserve. In addition, forward Scottie Upshall has been placed on Injured Reserve, retroactive to Jan. 2, 2010.
Winnik, 24, has recorded 2-10-12 and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) while appearing in 39 games this season and ranks T-3rd on the team with a +10 rating. Winnik has missed the last five games due to injury. In 167 career NHL games with the Coyotes over three seasons, Winnik has registered 16-29-45 and 98 PIM. The native of Toronto, Ontario was originally selected by the Coyotes in the ninth round (265th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
Upshall, 26, has registered 14-10-24 and 40 PIM in 41 games this season. He leads the team in goals and ranks 4th in points. Upshall missed the Coyotes’ most recent game due to injury. Upshall, who was acquired from Philadelphia with a second round choice in the 2011 Entry Draft for Daniel Carcillo on Mar. 4, 2009, has recorded 60-70-130 and 263 PIM in 271 career NHL games with Nashville, Philadelphia and the Coyotes. A native of Fort McMurray, Alberta, he was originally selected by Nashville in the first round (6th overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft.
