Thrashers Assign Valabik to Chicago for Conditioning

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman Boris Valabik to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League for a conditioning stint, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell.
Valabik, 23, missed 16 games from Oct. 8 to Nov. 15 due to an ankle injury and has not appeared in a game with the Thrashers this season.
The Nitra, Slovakia, native has recorded five assists in 57 career games with the Thrashers. He made his NHL debut on March 19, 2008 vs. Carolina and recorded his first career point on Dec. 10, 2008 vs. the NY Rangers. The 6-7, 245-pound defenseman has also recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) and a plus-41 rating in 119 career AHL games with the Wolves. Valabik posted four points (one goal, three assists) during the 2008 post-season while helping Chicago to the Calder Cup Championship.
Valabik was selected in the first round (10th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
