Kings Claim Randy Jones; Place Martinez On IR

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have claimed defenseman Randy Jones off of re-entry waivers, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. The Kings have also placed defenseman Alec Martinez on the injured reserve list (retroactive to October 5) due to an ankle injury.
Jones, 28, has played in six games this season with the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League, recording one point (an assist) and six penalty minutes.
Last season, Jones played in 47 games with the Philadelphia Flyers, recording eight points (4-4=8) and 22 penalty minutes. He also played in six playoff games with the Flyers and he played in two regular season games with the Phantoms.
The 6-2, 200-pound native of Quispamsis, Newfoundland, has been in the Philadelphia organization the last seven years. In 217 career regular season NHL games, he has 69 points (13-56=69) and 134 penalty minutes. He also has appeared in 22 career playoff games with the Flyers, recording three points (all assists) and four penalty minutes.
Martinez, 22, has played in one game with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL. The 6-1, 208-pounder is from Rochester Hills, Michigan.
