Blue Jackets Acquire Anton Stralman From Calgary

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Anton Stralman from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a third round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft, General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

Stralman, 23, registered one goal and 12 assists for 13 points and 20 penalty minutes in 38 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. He added 7-9-16, 24 penalty minutes and was +5 in 36 games with Toronto of the American Hockey League. Toronto’s fifth pick, 216th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he led Marlies defensemen in goals (tied) and ranked third in points.

Acquired by the Flames with Colin Stewart and Toronto’s seventh round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft for Wayne Primeau and Calgary’s second round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft on July 27, 2009, Stralman has collected 4-18-22 and 38 penalty minutes in 88 career NHL games. The Tibro, Sweden native also has recorded 7-20-27, 46 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +8 in 57 career AHL games.
