Flames Ink Grantham and Germyn

Thursday, Jul. 9th, 2009

Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of forwards Carsen Germyn and Ryley Grantham.

Germyn, a native of Campbell River, British Columbia, was first in assists (47) and second in scoring (60 points) with Quad City Flames (AHL) last season. Germyn is entering his seventh season of professional hockey and fifth with the Flames. Germyn has played for both the Kelowna Rockets and Red Deer Rebels of the WHL.

Grantham, a 6’4” native of Hanna, AB, finished last season with a WHL championship as a member of the Kelowna Rockets. In 22 post season games, en-route to a Memorial Cup Final appearance, Grantham recorded 4 goals and an assist. Originally drafted by the Flames in the 6th round (168th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Grantham played three seasons with the Moose Jaw Warriors before a late season trade in 2009 brought him to Kelowna and a successful run at the Ed Chynoweth Trophy.
