ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Nick Boynton to a one-year contract.

Boynton, 30 (1/14/79), appeared in his ninth NHL season with Florida in 2008-09, scoring 5-16=21 points with 91 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +7 rating in 68 contests. In addition, Boynton appeared in 18 Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Boston from 2002-04, earning 1-5=6 points with 14 PIM.

Prior to making his NHL debut, Boynton played with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League for four seasons (1995-99), serving as captain of the Memorial Cup championship squad in 1999. In addition, he was awarded with the Stafford Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player of the tournament.
