Canucks Re-Sign Rypien to Two-Year Extension

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that forward Rick Rypien has signed a two-year contract extension with the club through the 2010-11 NHL season. Rypien has played five seasons as a Vancouver Canuck.
“Rick plays with intensity and energy every time he steps on the ice,” said Mike Gillis. “He is an important part of our team and a valued teammate.”
Rypien, 25, made his NHL playoff debut this past season recording two points (0-2-2) and 40 penalty minutes in 10 games. In 41 career games as a Canuck, Rypien has recorded seven points (5-2-7) and 69 penalty minutes.
The 5’11”, 170 lbs. native of Coleman, Alberta originally signed with Vancouver as a free agent on November 9, 2005.
