Thrashers Recall Forward Spencer Machacek

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled forward Spencer Machacek (muh-HA-chehk) from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell.

Machacek, 20, has recorded 42 points (20 goals, 22 assists) in 66 games during his first professional season with Chicago. The 6-1, 185-pound right wing ranks second on the Wolves in goals, third in points and is tied for sixth in assists. He is also tied for third on the team with a plus-12 rating. Machacek earned a season-high three points (one goal, two assists) on Feb. 14 at Peoria and put together a season-long seven-game point streak from Feb. 7 to Feb. 18, recording 10 points (five goals, five assists) during that span.

Prior to his professional career, Machacek spent three seasons with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League from 2005 to 2008. In 203 regular-season contests with the Giants, Machacek recorded 168 points (77 goals, 91 assists) and earned a plus-56 rating. The Lethbridge, Alberta native also appeared in 50 WHL post-season games, posting 41 points (20 goals, 21 assists). He registered 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 22 games during the 2007 playoffs to help lead the Giants to a Memorial Cup Championship.

Machacek was selected by the Thrashers in the third round, 67th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
