Wednesday, Feb. 4th, 2009
The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled defenseman Ryan Parent from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. Parent will be available to play in Wednesday night's Flyers-Boston Bruins game at the Wachovia Center.
Parent, 21, has one assist and 18 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Phantoms this season. He was assigned to the Phantoms from the Flyers on December 28, 2008, after missing the first 36 games of this season recovering from surgery performed on his right shoulder on October 16, 2008.
The 6'2", 205-pound defenseman was scoreless in 22 regular season games for the Flyers last season. He recorded a goal and seven assists for eight points and 42 penalty minutes in 53 games for the Phantoms during the 2007-08 season.
Parent was acquired by the Flyers, along with Scottie Upshall and a first and third round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Peter Forsberg on February 15, 2007.
