Blue Jackets Activate Tollefsen; Place Novotny on IR

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Jiri Novotny on Injured Reserve and activated defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Novotny is expected to be sidelined at least one week with an upper body injury. He has appeared in 26 games this season, tallying one goal and three assists for four points with four penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus ranking. He has registered 17-31-48 and 46 penalty minutes in 173 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals.
Tollefsen, who was placed on Injured Reserve on December 17, has collected one assist and 31 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has appeared in 138 career games with the club, registering 4-6-10 with 267 penalty minutes since the 2005-06 season.
