Hurricanes Activate Scott Walker; Assign LaCouture to Albany
Tuesday, Nov. 4th, 2008
RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated right wing Scott Walker from injured reserve. Rutherford also announced that forward Dan LaCouture has cleared waivers and will join the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.
Walker, 35, has been sidelined for Carolina’s first 11 games of the season following an Oct. 6 surgery on his left hand. The Cambridge, Ont., native sustained ligament damage when he tangled with Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nathan Guenin in the teams’ preseason game on Sept. 28. Walker (5’10”, 196 lbs.) is in his third season with the Hurricanes and his 14th NHL season.
