Oilers Recall Theo Peckham

Thursday, Oct. 23rd, 2008

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Theo Peckham from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Peckham’s recall was necessitated following Steve Staios’ return to Edmonton for personal reasons.

Peckham made his NHL debut with the Oilers last season, skating in a 2-1 overtime win at Columbus on March 7, 2008. He was scoreless and even in 13:22 of ice time with one hit and two blocked shots against the Blue Jackets. He registered his first career penalty minute with a first period interference minor.

With Springfield this season, the 6’2”, 223 pound defenceman has scored two goals and an assist in five games to rank third in scoring on the Oilers’ AHL affiliate. Both of his goals have come on the powerplay and he is +1 with 18 penalty minutes.
