Kings Sign Jarret Stoll and Brad Richardson

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have signed restricted free agent centers Jarret Stoll and Brad Richardson to multi-year contracts, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Stoll signed for four years, Richardson for two.
Stoll, 26, was acquired by the Kings with defenseman Matt Greene from Edmonton in exchange for defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky on June 29. In 81 regular season games this past season for the Oilers, he notched 36 points (14-22=36) and 74 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 210-pound native of Melville, Saskatchewan, also ranked second on the Oilers with eight power-play goals and he led the team with three short-handed tallies, which was tied for eighth in the NHL.
Stoll also last season won the ninth most shorthanded faceoffs in the League with 133, and he is just one of seven NHL player to have at least a 55 percent faceoff winning percentage the past three seasons.
Stoll had 39 points (13-26=39) in 51 regular season games in 2006-07 and a career-high 68 points (22-46=68) in 82 regular season games during his rookie year in 2005-06. He also posted 10 points (4-6=10) and 24 penalty minutes in 24 playoff games in 2006 when Edmonton advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. In 286 career NHL regular season games (all with the Oilers), Stoll has 165 points (59-106=165) and 238 penalty minutes.
Stoll has also represented Canada three times in International play, including twice in the World Junior Championships. Stoll won a bronze medal in 2001 and captained Canada to a silver medal in 2002. In addition, he won a gold medal with the Canadian Under-18 Team at the Four-Nations Cup in 1999.
Originally selected by Calgary in the second-round (46th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Stoll re-entered the draft in 2002 and was selected by Edmonton in the second round (36th overall) that year.
Richardson, 23, was acquired by the Kings from Colorado for a second round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on June 21. In 22 regular season games this past season with the Avalanche, he recorded five points (2-3=5) and eight penalty minutes. The 5-11, 185-pound native of Belleville, Ontario, also recorded 40 points (14-26=40) and 18 penalty minutes in 38 regular season games with Lake Erie, Colorado's American Hockey League affiliate. His 40 points ranked fourth on club while his 26 assists tied for third on the team.
Richardson reached career highs in goals (14), points (22) and games played (73) with the Avalanche in 2006-07, a year in which he led the club in short-handed goals (three). He also ranked first among Colorado forwards in short-handed time-on-ice average per game (2:53). In 2005-06, Richardson totaled 13 points (3-10=13) and 12 penalty minutes while logging 41 regular season games with the Avalanche, and he finished his rookie season by recording one goal and six penalty minutes in nine postseason games with the club. He also totaled 17 points (4-13=17) and 20 penalty minutes in 29 games with Lowell (AHL) that same season.
In 136 career NHL regular season games (all with the Avalanche), Richardson, who was originally selected by Colorado in the fifth round (163rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, has 40 points (19-21=40) and 48 penalty minutes.
