Coyotes Acquire Zimmerman From Devils for Cormier

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Sean Zimmerman from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for left wing Kevin Cormier. Zimmerman will take part in the upcoming Coyotes Rookie Camp and Training Camp.
Zimmerman, 21, spent last season with the Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League (AHL), recording six assists and 47 penalty minutes (PIM) in 66 games. He also skated in eight games with the Trenton Devils of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
In 2006-07, the native of Denver, Colo. represented the United States in the World Junior Championships. He also completed his junior hockey career by collecting 2-12-14 and 69 PIM in 60 games with Spokane of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In four seasons with Spokane, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Zimmerman recorded 10-49-59 and 165 PIM in 270 games. He was originally drafted by New Jersey in the sixth round (170th overall) of the 2005 Entry Draft.
Cormier, 22, played for the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League (CHL) last season, collecting 3-2-5 and 104 PIM in 23 games. He was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
