Wednesday, Jul. 2nd, 2008

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Kurtis Foster to a 2008-09 contract.

Foster, 26 (11/24/81), collected 19 points (7-12=19) and 37 penalty minutes (PIM) in 56 games with Minnesota in 2007-08, averaging 16:24 of ice time. He finished third amongst Wild defensemen in points and added three power play goals. Foster missed the remainder of the season following a fractured left femur, suffered March 19 at San Jose. The 6-foot-5, 218-pound native of Carp, Ont., has recorded 70 points (20-50=70) and 149 PIM in 171 games covering three seasons with the Wild. Foster ranks second all-time amongst Wild blueliners with 41 power play points. He has 71 points (20-51=71) in 176 NHL games with Minnesota and Atlanta.

Minnesota originally signed Foster as a free agent on Aug. 4, 2005. He was Calgary's second-round pick (No. 40 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
