Canucks Ink Nolan Baumgartner and Alexandre Bolduc

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the team has signed defenceman Nolan Baumgartner and forward Alexandre Bolduc.

Baumgartner, 32, appeared in 18 games with the Manitoba Moose last season after joining them on February 27th on loan from the Dallas Stars. The Calgary, Alberta native collected six assists and 10 penalty minutes for the Moose. Baumgartner also played 56 games last season with the AHL’s Iowa Stars. In that time, he scored five goals and 13 assists for 18 points and 47 penalty minutes. The defenceman played in three Calder Cup playoff games and collected one assist.

Baumgartner has played 131 career NHL games with Dallas, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Washington. In 131 games played he recorded 45 points (6-39-45) and 67 penalty minutes. Baumgartner has also played 625 career AHL games recording 288 points (63-225-288) and 666 penalty minutes with Iowa, Philadelphia, Manitoba, Norfolk, and Portland. Baumgartner was originally drafted in the first round, 10th overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Bolduc, 23, had a career season in 2007-08 with the Moose. The Montreal, PQ native played 70 games and scored career highs in goals (18), assists (19), and points (37). In six Calder Cup playoff games last year, Bolduc scored one goal. Bolduc has appeared in 131 games with the Moose over three seasons recording 56 points (25-31-56) and 163 penalty minutes. Bolduc was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round, 127th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
