Grant Marshall (DAL) |
Alexander Karpovtsev (NYR) |
| Comments: The fight starts beside the Rangers' net. Marshall and Karpovtsev each drop their gloves and grab on. They start off exchanging a few rights a piece, nothing really landing. Marshall switches to the left and throws the next five punches. The first seems to catch Karpovtsev, who was surprised by the change, but he fended off the rest. Karpovtsev's right hand is caught up in his jersey. He is trying to get it out when Marshall tries going with the left some more, and as Marshall starts throwing they also start spinning. Karpovtsev does a good job fending off more of Marshall's punches. Karpovtsev gets his arm free of Marshall's grip and hits the back of Marshall's head twice. He then tries two uppercuts that come up short. Marshall answers with two lefts that hit Karpovtsev's shoulder. They start grappling and each throw a couple of short punches. while they're in-close Karpovtsev gets his right arm out of his jersey and each player starts throwing big punches, Marshall with the left and Karpovtsev with the right. Each throws five or six, but only one or two land for each. Marshall takes a huge left swing that misses and the momentum causes him to be hunched over. With Karpovtsev leaning on him the linesmen come in and break them up. Other Penalties: Karpovtsev received a game misconduct. |

Eric Cairns (NYR) |
| Comments: Cairns and Marshall start pushing in front of the Rangers' net after a whistle and each drop the gloves and square off. They lunge in and each player grabs on with the left and throws with the right. After a couple of punches miss their mark, Marshall tags Cairns right on the chin. The punch rocks Cairns, but Cairns stays on his feet. Cairns responds with another right that Marshall slips and counters with a left to the side of Cairns' head/helmet. They do a 180 and Cairns tries a left that Marshall ducks under. Marshall now has his head buried in Cairns' midsection and has a hold of Cairns' leg trying for a take down. Cairns throws two uppercuts that make Marshall lift his head. He comes up swinging with a right that comes up short. Cairns then unloads with three rights that miss their mark and Marshall responds with three lefts that come up short. They somehow pull away from each other, but they're not ready for the fight to end. The linesmen try and stop it, but the fighters re-engage. Marshall immediately goes for Cairns' leg for the take down, but Cairns starts throwing right uppercuts and the linesmen come in before he can do any damage to Marshall. |
