Time Away Home

Comments: They line up beside each other at the faceoff. Once the puck is dropped both guys drop the gloves and grab on. Ondrus throws a short right uppercut that comes up short. Thorburn tries to respond with a right, but he misses as Ondrus leans away from the shot. Ondrus throws another short right uppercut followed by a good right. He throws another right, but misses as Thorburn ducks under it. As Thorburn is leaning away he fires off a left which Ondrus ducks under. Both guys then fire off shots at the same time: Ondrus a left, Thorburn a right, but neither have much effect. Both get in close and Ondrus throws a right uppercut which pops Thorburn's helmet off. Ondrus throws another right uppercut as he gets hit with a Thorburn right to the back of the head. Ondrus pulls back and lands a good right to the side of the face as Thorburn misses with a shot. Thorburn quickly answers with a grazing short right. Ondrus fires off another right to the side of the head and the two get in close again. Thorburn throws a right hand which puts him off-balance. Time Away Home
3pd 04:07 Mark Mancari (BUF) Darcy Tucker (TOR)
Comments: It starts as play moves in to the Toronto zone. The puck is stopped in front of the net and a scrum ensues. Paul Gaustad and Jay Harrison shove each other and eventually drop the gloves, but the refs quickly come in and break them up. Away from the play Darcy Tucker and Mark Mancari have a little conversation and decide to drop the gloves. It didn't look like the two were going to be able to fight as they were both tied up by linesmen, but Tucker threw off his gloves and Mancari followed suit. The linesmen back and off and let the two fight. They have a good square off and end up coming together at center ice. They grab on, get in close and circle around. Tucker sneaks in a short right hand and then works his right elbow pad off, but as he is doing that Mancari gets in a short left that reopens a previous cut Tucker had. Tucker tries to get loose again, but Mancari loses his balance and falls to the ice. Tucker throws a right hand to his downed opponent and then the linesmen break them up. Tucker was quite bloody afterwards due to the cut that was reopened by Mancari. Other Penalties: Paul Gaustad and Jay Harrison each received a roughing; Bryan McCabe an interference.
