Comments: Laraque and May decide to drop the gloves as soon as the puck is dropped. After a short square off Laraque grabs ahold of May getting him off-balance. May is in an awkward position as Laraque is letting loose with lefts. May gets sent to the ice and Laraque doesn't let up, but May still manages to get back on his feet. He doesn't get to straighten up before getting pulled back to the ice by the stronger Laraque. The linsemen then rush in to end the fight.

Comments: Laperriere gets hit by Semenov up along the boards and that's all it takes. They throw the gloves off and get it on near the faceoff circle. Semenov seems to be in better control of the fight as he locks out the smaller Laperriere. Semenov tries throwing quite a few jersey-punches, but they all come up short. Laperriere finally tries to sneak in a few of his own, but Semenov's reach has him locked out. The linsemen come in as they tire each other out. Other Penalties: Semenov received an elbowing.
