What Carcillo talked about yesterday is exactly what I was saying, & you called it bull****. Many NHLers don't wanna play here plain & simple. I've never known a team that is so hated around the league since the days of the Broad Street Bullies. Ryan Whitney was the player who was tweeting about the diving & antics that the Canucks were doing. It's not just Lapierre, Kesler, Burrows & Bieksa. Carcillo said it was Glass & Torres as well & the Sedins were as guilty as anyone with their diving & ***** antics that make this team dispized across the board as well as Luongo who kept shooting off his mouth like he was God. Beautiful city or not, players like playing in places like Florida, TBay & Phoenix, not because they are good or bad teams, but they like the warm weather year round & probably because they get taxed a lot less than here as well.

Wow, how predictable. A stupid troll of a tool like Carcillo comes and slams the Canucks and starts spewing out garbage in order to gain some leverage with the press and his new fan base and all of a sudden he's speaking gospel and your new hero. How incredibly predictable. You disappoint me GF, I figured you'd be in here posting that kind of response 24 hours ago - you're way too fuking late.

Yeah, players like playing in places like Florida, Tampa or Phoenix because they make the playoffs every year and play in buildings that are half full every night. Sounds like fun to me! Sign me up Scotty! Yay! Guess having the chance to win means nothing to the vast majority of NHLers, huh? Yay!

You are hilarious GF. Exactly what I need to carry on my mundane lifestyle every morning and get through the work day. Keep up the great work here.

Still call asinine bullsh!t....

He's not my hero but he knows the Canucks have a team laden with pretenders & he's looking forward to, I'm guessing, settling a few scores.

For years players look forward to playing in the Sunbelt because they can golf all year round & the weather's nice & they can go out in public without the hassle. Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone but a good majority of the players. Tampa Bay has one Cup & the Canucks have zero so make fun of TBay all you want. Their not far off from winning their second before Vancouver will win one.

I like Carcillo since he entered the league & you would've been walking around with a woody if he signed here, instead you rip him for calling out a bunch of guys he wants a piece of. The fact that he didn't know that Glass & Torres didn't play here doesn't surprise me as he doesn't sit around in front of a computer like fans do seeing who went where.

I rip him for not having an informed opinion and not knowing what he's talking about before spewing garbage like that to the media. If he's going to be issuing proclamations and intentions like that on live tv and dropping names who are no longer relevent to the situation, he should at least know who's still on the team and who's not. He's a professional athlete for god's sake. I know hockey players aren't exactly that bright to begin with, but he came off looking incredibly stupid there. But, in the dog days of summer, he got people talking hockey, and I guess that kind of press is better than no press....

And really, Carcillo in the past 2 seasons, his antics have been just as bad as some of the players he mentioned at his conference. He's one to talk. And no, I'm not sure if I'd want a personality like Carcillo's on my team. The Phoenix version, yes, but not the Flyers version. The Canucks need toughness, but I'm not sure Carcillo would have been the right answer...

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the rest, or maybe not post so much first thing in the morning when I'm crabby and oh so angry with the world...

Owen nolan will make this team whether he beats on carcillo or not. im callin it now... we havent talked much about owen nolan, but i think with his work ethic and heart, he is an easy shoe-in for the nucks. they'll sign him and he'll possibly make his way up to the 2nd line by late season... but he'll probably be a 3rd liner most of the season..

thought there would of been a trade by now.. but im hearing alex sulzer is a serious contender for 7th-8th defenseman???? WTF im not happy with our current d situation.

I can't believe that Nolan will have the legs to make the line up.

FF , we have the luxury of sweating details over our 6th-7th d-man spot

other teams wish they had our "problems"

we've got a president's trophy in our case now, and this year both coaches and players are going to be more concerned about winning the last game of the season, instead of how many during

today, i'm wearing my "to hell with summer, drop the puck" tee

tsn's coverage of the ivan hlinka tourney and the WJC selection camp fed my jonesing for hockey

milan lucic had his day with the cup here this week, and kept it completely private.

i told you after they won the cup it would be the hardest ticket of all time

according to his global tv interview, the highlight was to be a dinner for friends and family on top of grouse mountain.

just one more thing those fukktards who rioted took away from us true fans

Im talking #4 or 5 ... if ballard disappoints and salo gets hurt again..... im thinking we need a name brand guy who can log big minutes make big hits and play the puck. if said some players names before.... Unless one of our homegrown D can jump up to fill the role, and be a core player. im not too hopeful.
the last few spots on d yeah switch em around battle for spots ... nice to have the luxury of up and comers who can be reliable ...

Rest in Peace, Rick Rypien.

One of the toughest middles of all-time, bar none.

You have to believe that his death was related to his mental illness, which is incredibly sad, but I hope he's found the peace he was looking for.

I was personally pretty excited for Rick. He seemed comfortable in Winnipeg and getting a chance to play in the NHL there seemed like a great opportunity for him. He had a pal going with him in Tanner Glass and his family was close by as well. Sad, sad day for Canucks nation and the hockey world at large.

Best wishes to all of you and yours,
Steve

I echo your statements, Steve.

Watching and being a fan of Rypien since he first made his debut with the Canucks 5 or 6 years ago has been such a rollercoaster. The excitement and anticipation of what he could bring to the rink, his willingness to go with pretty much anybody, his style of fighting and his obvious skill in doing so - all the injuries that derailed or sidetracked his career, the personal leaves, the rumours of mental illness, depression, or bi-polar disorder - the incident with the fan in Minnesota, being happy and relieved when he got back on to the ice again with the Moose back in March and April, sadnesss in the knowledge he probably wouldn't be back with the Canucks, but content and excited he'd get another chance in Winnipeg with the Jets - to the news today - just a real rollercoaster of an experience being a fan of Rypien, and give you some idea as to what life may have been like for him, both on and off the ice.

Its a real shame, a real sad and tragic ending for a real tough little player who went balls out on every shift and in the end paid a very heavy price for it. Both physically and mentally. I'm going to miss him greatly.

RIP Rick...you were one of the best. I'm so sorry it took such a toll on you...

Hey guys - my heart felt condolences on Ryp's passing. I'm not sure if any of you guys got to know him personally, or even get a chance to hang out with him on a Canucks/fans relation situation - but my sympathies are there.

He was one hell of a tough kid, and an even more fun guy to watch on the ice.

Again, my best wishes.
-Josh

My heartfelt condolences to the Canuck Community on hearing of the passing of Rick Rypien.

I know this hits hard and there is nothing that can be said to make that better. As a member of the hockey community at large, all true fans feel your loss and our sympathies go out to his family and you fans.

Indeed, Rest In Peace.

Thanks Josh, Roger.

Rypien was a favorite of all of us here, one of those underdog stories you couldn't help but love and cheer for every season, every night he played, every time he fought. Every fall for the last 5 years would bring the same question - how's Ripper doing, is he healthy, and can he stick this time and make the opening night roster? Usually, it was no, or if he was, it wouldn't take long for him to hurt himself or break something. The way he fought, the opponents he usually took on, and the style of game he played ensured he'd rarely last a full season or enjoy a lengthy career. In 5 years, most of which he was AVs fave, he barely managed to play 120 games. But in that time, he made more of an impact than most players do playing 2, 3 times that amount in a Canucks jersey. Everyone liked him and wanted to see him succeed as a full time NHLer, whether they were a fan of fighting or not. And the organization was so patient with him, did everything they could to help him deal with his issues, giving him his time, space, and privacy - but it still leaves you wondering if more could have been done....

I was really looking forward to seeing him crack the Jets roster, hopefully having put all his past issues behind him, the fresh start he needed - so tragic that this won't be the case.

You know, its been 3 years now since Luc Bourdon died in that motorcycle accident - its still so fresh in most of our minds and he was in my thoughts quite a bit during the playoffs last season. It sort of feels like, as fans, we're still coming to terms or dealing with Luc's death, and now Rypien's died. I know he was no longer part of the organization, I understand that this is different, but he had yet to play a game or even put on a Jets jersey yet and it still feels like he was part of the Canucks family. I think of him and I can still see those scraps with Prust, Carcillo, Gill, Valabik, Sutton, Neil, and Janssen so clearly, and how exciting those scraps were and how he had fans talking about him whenever he dropped the mitts. Its just such a shame.
