Who's your fav Leaf of all time?
Different generations, some players still active, but who's your fav? If you choose other, write it in.
If you are not a fan of the Leafs, you can still vote for which one you liked the most.

He was one of my favs as well. When he got that crazy look in his eye, it was something. A little human wrecking ball on the ice, all heart and balls.
Before every game his drink was half coke, half coffee. If it wasn't 50/50, down the drain it went and he tried again. A few memories. Leveling Roenick sending him to another planet. Taking out Peca, made that series pretty vicious. One punching Luke Richardson and putting him on his ass. The Avery incident. Leveling Kapanen almost putting him through the boards. His rivalry with Steve Thomas.

I grew up in Northern Ontario, well, it's not really that far North, but that's what people from the city called it, it's probably better known as "Cottage Country" to those guys, but anyway, I grew up more or less a Leaf fan. I had a great uncle who was mostly a career minor leaguer between the late 40s and early 60s. He played for a lot of teams outside of Toronto, (played a season with Don Cherry with the Springfield Indians for example) but in Toronto he played for the Marlboros, St. Mikes, and was called up for a handful of games for the Leafs in 1949 and then again in 1953. As a kid I got lots of stories about all of those guys, not sure how many were true or how much they were talked up to impress a little kid, but regardless, I was always interested in the Leafs as a kid.
My favourite player without question was Wendel Clark. He was the most exciting guy on the ice every shift, and I remember going nuts after goals, hits, fights, whatever. He did it all. My favourite Leafs team of all was probably in 1992-93, with Clark and company of Gilmour, Baumgartner, Gill, Andreychuk, Zezel, Mike Foligno, etc. That was the year that the Leafs played St. Louis in the playoffs after Cujo and the Blues got past Chicago, in game 7, Clark got loose on a 2 on 1 with Glen Anderson, and absolutely rifled a slapshot at Cujo's face almost killing him in a blowout game.
They ended up losing out to the Kings that year after going up 3-2 in the series, if you watched game 6 you must remember Wayne Gretzky's high stick on Gilmour that went uncalled. Wayne then went on to score the game winner and the Kings would win the series in game 7.

Darcy Tucker was a nutty fukker, and I remember him well with the Lightning. He was one of the few balls out players who I never liked. my dad was a fan, and DT certainly had the crazy eyes. I saw him do some atrocious things and at a fairly young age I had a slightly more harsh opinion of cheap stuff back then. He never stopped tho, that dude lit up the then "sparse" Lightning crowds in any situation of the game.
Anyway, I chose the "other" category. Now one of my first choices was Freddy Mo, but I wouldn't necessarily say he was my favorite as a Leaf ever, because I followed him more with the bolts. He too actually had the crazy eyes. Not the type where he'd go headhunting or kneehunting as the case may be Another player I was thinking is Kaberle. He's been a very steady d-man for the Leafs, and he seems just like a very likeable player. He does little wrong, and he can play like a top 10 d-man. I'd actually consider him a top 10 d-man ( a few years ago) and I'm sure on a better team he'd be back to where he was, as he has been playing below par for him lately in the faltering Leafs organization. On the bright side, I'm actually looking forward to what Burke can bring to the team, and there is a chance Kabby could be a part of it, albeit slim. So all in all, I can't choose one which is why I chose the other category in the first place anyway. HM's: Andreychuk and cujo Last edited by The Crow; 06-24-2009 at 02:02 AM. |

Darcy Tucker and Tie Domi for me, I came to the game later than most of you guys, so missed the times when we actually had decent runs in the playoffs haha.
Tucker gave absolutely everything, every shift. I wish he could have ended his career with the Leafs but seeing him last season, it was the right thing to do to cut him. as for Domi, I have never seen a man with as hard a skull as that guy. I remember a quote from McGrattan saying punching Domi was like punching a wall. One of the fiercest fighters in the game and somebody you'd want stood next to you in an alley not facing up to you I also love the way he reacted to having his contract bought out, saying he couldn't imagine pulling on another teams Jersey. I know he gets blasted a lot, but I think the guy's a class act and bleeds blue and white. |

Gary Roberts and perhaps Eddie Shack and maybe Semenko should have been on that list.
The stories I have heard of Shack are simply amazing.

Darcy Tucker is without a doubt my favourite. I met him way back when he played for the Fredericton Canadiens and I have been a big fan ever since. Just a crazy motherf*cker during his prime.
One of my favourite Tucker moments:
After Tucker, my favourites are (in no particular order) Tie Domi, Mats Sundin, Wendel Clark, Felix Potvin, Gary Roberts and Shayne Corson. |

Not a Leafs fan but my all time favorite Leaf would be Darryl Sittler for sure. Tough as nails plus a terrific leader.
